London in...9 days, 3 hours!!!
I was watching the closing ceremony yesterday and they showed Phelps in front of Buckingham Palace to kick off the countdown to the 2012 Olympics (seriously guys, let's not get ahead of ourselves) and I think that, combined with a recent phone call for directions to a LA destination and the fact that LMU started classes today ( not to mention the numerous e-mails from past professors and the CBA dean), triggered the reality that I'm going abroad for the semester.
I can't really say I'm excited yet. Panic seems to be a better suited adjective. After receiving numerous e-mails and the occasional question of "how does it feel? are you excited?", in addition to, "don't forget to pack..." around the office all last week, I officially started packing this past weekend. I'm happy to say that I'm about 87% packed and ready to go...yet instead of being elated that I'm thinking ahead or even building up the excitement to actually going...I freaked myself out instead!
I'm determined to check in one large bag, but despite my efficiency in packing my belongings I had forgotten about the bag weight limit...so much for being able to handle the tube on my own :( I don't know how I'm going to get from Heathrow to the house with two large wheel bags, my carry on and laptop in one piece; mind you that there are no elevators! Chances are it'll probably be raining too...
So...i'll probably remain 87% packed for awhile, until I figure out how to change up the baggage...but man did it give me a huge panic attack. My room has looked like my closet had come down with the flu and threw up the contents of my closet. My mom came in looking for a purse I had borrowed and she nearly died when she saw! Anyhow, looking at the bag and then again at the weight limitations (my bag currently registers at 48 lbs, the weight limit is 50 and I' haven't packed jeans or shoes yet...) I got too overwhelmed....so I made cookies :D
